Investigation of Alleged Corruption in BPKH Jalan Terus, Focus on Budgeting Matters

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has ensured that the investigation into alleged corruption at the Hajj Finance Management Agency (BPKH) is still ongoing. The focus is said to be related to the budgeting for the implementation of the hajj.

"What is being investigated is the general activity of the estimation carried out by BPKH," said Acting Director of Investigation of the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, to reporters, quoted by Wednesday, July 22.

Taufik said that this investigation was different from the haj case that had been handled. "Because it is related to the BPKH, it is for the financial side," he said.

However, Taufik has not been able to detail the investigation. Because, corruption allegations that are still at that stage are usually handled in a closed manner.

Official information is usually conveyed when the alleged corruption rises to the investigation stage.

"So far, the investigation process is still ongoing, there is no need to be upgraded to the investigation stage," he said.

The KPK revealed that the investigation at BPKH began with a public complaint. The process was after the analysis and review of the report was carried out.

"Regarding this (investigation into alleged corruption in BPKH, ed.), it starts from the existence of a report of public complaints which were then examined, analyzed by the team," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

As previously reported, the KPK hinted that it was investigating alleged corruption at the Haji Finance Management Agency (BPKH). This process starts from the alleged corruption of quotas and the implementation of the 2023-2024 hajj at the Ministry of Religion which is already in the investigation stage.

"Then the question about the involvement of BPKH and others. Well, we are also (investigating, ed), but this has not yet been investigated, so it cannot be conveyed in detail," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted by Tuesday, November 11.

Even so, Asep emphasized that this investigation would delve into a number of aspects related to the management or use of Hajj funds. Among them are related to accommodation or accommodation, catering to transportation for pilgrims from Indonesia.

"So this is just information, cluenya only. Later we will also check his residence, accommodation, catering, and then also his transportation," he said.

"And there is also information related to the delivery of goods. Because our brothers who go on the hajj also send goods and others," he continued.
