BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government has decided to dismantle and adjust the physical building of the Gasibu Library to integrate the area with the landscape of the front yard of the Gedung Sate into a functional public space.

West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman explained that the "removal" of the iconic library building in Bandung City was ensured to have undergone all stages of applicable legal regulations, including the completion of the administration of the removal of Regional Property (BMD) before heavy equipment was lowered in the field.

"The Gasibu Library building is adapted with the landscape design of the Gasibu arrangement which is integrated with the Gedung Sate courtyard. This is done in order to harmonize between natural elements and artificial elements in the Gasibu area so that it is more functional, neat, and beautiful," said Herman in Bandung, Tuesday, July 14, reported by ANTARA.

Herman ensured that the loss of the physical building would not reduce the commitment of the West Java Provincial Government in facilitating public literacy needs. Instead, the concept of providing reading books for the community in the city center will be fully transferred to the modern technology system.

"Gasibu Library will be transformed into a digital library so that the public can access literacy services more easily and modern," he said.

Herman said that in addition to relying on digital platforms, the West Java Provincial Government also activated a mobile library fleet around the Gasibu area to facilitate residents and visitors who still need physical access to printed book collections on certain days.

The West Java Provincial Government targets that this Gedung Sate-Gasibu corridor arrangement project will be able to create a safer, more comfortable, inclusive, and representative area for the public in West Java without degrading social, cultural, sports, and educational functions.

During the construction and landscape process, the provincial government appealed to road users and the community who are active around the location to adjust the route, follow the traffic arrangements, and comply with all safety instructions from officers in the field.
