JAKARTA - Strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative economy is an important strategy to bring Jakarta into the ranks of the 50 global cities by 2030.

Head of the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) of the DKI Jakarta Province, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said that in the midst of Jakarta's economic growth, strengthening the real sector through MSMEs is an important factor to maintain inclusive, sustainable, and competitive economic growth.

"In line with Governor Pramono Anung's vision, the PPKUKM Office continues to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem that is capable of producing creative, innovative, and adaptive business actors to technological developments," Ratu said in a statement received by Antara, in Jakarta, Saturday, July 11.

He explained that a global city is not only built through infrastructure and investment, but also requires a strong community economic foundation.

Not only that, MSMEs are considered the main foundation in building a creative economy ecosystem that is able to create jobs, generate innovation, and increase the added value of local products.

To realize this, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is optimizing the JakPreneur program. Through this program, the PPKUKM Office integrates business capacity development, provides assistance, helps access financing, expands market access, and accelerates digital transformation.

Based on data as of July 10, 2026, the total number of Jakarta Entrepreneur (JakPreneur) binaan businesses has reached 422,617 participants. Of these, 344,704 members or 81.56 percent are active.

"The high number of active binaan businesses shows one thing, that the entrepreneurial ecosystem that grows in Jakarta is getting stronger. This is as capital in encouraging economic growth based on innovation and creativity," he said.

Data from the PPKUKM Office also shows that creative economic actors dominate the ecosystem of the binaan UMKM. The culinary subsector is the largest with 198,581 business actors (46.99 percent), followed by fashion with 24,116 businesses, craft (craft) 9,073 businesses, art 1,267 businesses, design 693 businesses, photography 20 businesses, and games 11 businesses.

"The diversity of this subsector reflects the potential of Jakarta's creative economy as a source of new economic growth," he said.

In an effort to expand market access and business efficiency in the digital economy era, the PPKUKM Office continues to accelerate the digital transformation of MSMEs.

"Currently, 278,155 JakPreneur participants (65.82 percent) have been digitized, while the other 144,462 participants (34.18 percent) are still undergoing mentoring," he said.

Seeing this significant progress, the Queen is optimistic that strong MSMEs will give birth to an increasingly competitive creative economy ecosystem. He also believes that Governor Pramono's vision to bring Jakarta into the 50 global cities can be realized.

"We continue to carry out the directions of Governor Pramono by ensuring that Jakarta MSMEs become one of the important pillars in supporting the realization of Jakarta's vision as an inclusive, innovative global city, and in the ranks of the world's 50 global cities by 2030," said Ratu.
