US Military Reportedly Attacked Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant

JAKARTA - The United States military reportedly attacked several locations in the Iranian coastal province of Bushehr on Thursday afternoon.

One of the locations hit by the attack was the area around the Bushehr nuclear power plant (NPP), according to a local official quoted by state media IRNA, Thursday, July 9.

Piers for fishing boats on the coast were also hit by the attack, the official said. CNN was unable to independently verify the claim.

The US military has not reported any new attacks in Iranian territory on Thursday afternoon, after previously stating that 90 targets had been attacked the previous night.

US Central Command/CENTCOM previously said US forces had attacked "90 Iranian military targets" along the coastal region. The statement did not mention the bridge.

According to authorities, warning sirens of the threat that came sounded in Bahrain and Kuwait on Thursday morning. The Kuwaiti Army stated that their air defense system was responding to "hostile missile and drone threats."

Based on a statement published by IRIB, the IRGC warned that it would expand the scope of its response to other American bases in the region if the US carried out a retaliatory attack.
