The Government Sets July 13 as the Day of Trust in God Almighty

The government officially designated July 13 as the Day of Trust in God the Almighty through the Decree of the Minister of Culture Number 135 of 2026.

JAKARTA - The government officially designated July 13 as the Day of Trust in God the Almighty through the Decree of the Minister of Culture Number 135 of 2026. This determination is a form of state recognition of the existence of the Faith Practitioner as part of the Indonesian nation who has the same rights as citizens.

The decision was handed over by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon to the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Assembly of Trust in God Almighty Indonesia (MLKI), Naen Suryono, at the Sasana Adirasa Pangeran Sambernyawa, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Monday (6/7).

Fadli said the establishment of the Day of Trust in God Almighty is a manifestation of the government's commitment to guarantee the rights of people of faith and strengthen respect for diversity in Indonesia.

"Indonesia was built on the foundation of diversity, tolerance, and respect for the dignity of every citizen," he said.

According to Fadli, the state must ensure that every citizen has an equal space to practice their beliefs, preserve traditions, and pass on noble values to the next generation.

He hopes that the establishment of the memorial day will be a milestone to strengthen the recognition, respect, protection, and promotion of inclusive national culture as well as strengthen Indonesian unity.

Director General of Cultural and Traditional Protection, Restu Gunawan, said that discussions on the proposal for the Day of Trust in God Almighty have been ongoing since 2005.

According to him, the Minister of Culture's Decree Number 135 of 2026 was signed on June 30, 2026 before it was finally submitted to MLKI as the proponent.

Chairman of the MLKI Presidium, Naen Suryono, welcomed the decision. He assessed that the establishment of the Day of Belief showed the presence of the state in recognizing and respecting the rights of people of faith.

The Day of Trust in God Almighty will be commemorated every July 13. The date was chosen because it has historical value, namely the emergence of the phrase "and his trust" proposed by Mr. Wongsonegoro in the BPUPKI and PPKI session on July 13, 1945. This event is one of the important milestones in the history of the recognition of Trust in God Almighty in the life of the nation and the state.

This decision also confirms that the adherents of the Faith have an equal status as citizens as guaranteed in Pancasila and the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945.
