JAKARTA - The Judicial Commission (KY) has received a report of alleged violations of the code of ethics and guidelines for the conduct of judges (KEPPH) submitted by the team of lawyers for Nadiem Makarim, and is ready to follow up on the report.

KY member and spokesperson Anita Kadir said KY is open to parties who report alleged violations of the KEPPH.

"KY opens the door to parties who report alleged violations of KEPPH. KY is ready to follow up on the reports received," said Anita as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.

He explained that the report received by KY reported alleged violations of KEPPH against four judges of the Central Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) who examined and decided the case of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud) for the period 2019-2024 Nadiem Makarim in the case of corruption in the procurement of Chromebooks.

According to Anita, KY has been escorting the Cromebook case since the beginning as a prevention of KEPPH, because the case has attracted public attention.

"In accordance with its duties and functions, KY will follow up on the report by examining and studying the report first professionally," he said.

Anita emphasized that KY was committed to responding quickly and revealing the development of the report publicly, because the case was a public concern.

After receiving the report, he said, the KY will analyze the report to trace the alleged violation of the code of ethics of judges, without going into judicial techniques.

"KY is not authorized to examine the substance of the decision. Regarding the appeal efforts reported by the reporter, KY will also continue to monitor the appeal process in an effort to realize an integrated judiciary," said Anita.

Previously, the legal team along with Nadiem Makarim's wife, Franka Makarin, filed a report on alleged violations of KEPPHterhadap four judges of the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday.

The four judges are the chairman of the panel of judges Purwanto S. Abdullah, and three members of the judges, namely Sunoto, Eryusman, Mardianto.

According to the Nadiem Makarim legal team, several of the alleged ethical violations were that the chairman of the judge, Purwanto S. Abdullah, had been sentenced to a non-palu by the Judicial Court in the Tom Lembong case, but was appointed again as a judge to decide the Nadiem case.

"So when it was dropped, it was found guilty of non-palu on December 8, 2025, and appointed as a judge on December 9, 2025. This means that it really shows disregard for the decision of the Judicial Commission," said Ari Yusuf Amir.

Dody Abdul Kadir, another of Nadiem's lawyers, said the panel of judges who decided on his client's case was not impartial, not professional.

"This means that the panel does not understand the problems being examined, and then also behaves in a way that it shouldn't. So this gives a bad image and gives a sense of legal uncertainty," said Dody.

Previously, the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Nadiem Makarim to 10 years in prison on Tuesday (30/6). He was proven to have committed corruption related to the procurement of Chromebooks.

Nadiem was also sentenced to a fine of Rp1 billion with the provision that if it is not paid, it will be replaced (subsider) with a prison sentence of 190 days.

Meanwhile, the judge's verdict was also lighter than the prosecutor's demand. Previously, Nadiem was charged with a prison sentence of 18 years, a fine of Rp1 billion, which was subject to 190 days in prison, and a substitute of Rp5.67 trillion, which was subject to 9 years in prison.
