JAKARTA - Russia again highlights the humanitarian impact of the conflict with Ukraine, with data on nearly 8,500 Russian civilians killed. It is also reported that around 22,500 others have been injured by Ukrainian armed forces since February 2022.
"From February 2022 to June 30, 2026, the number of injured victims has reached 30,913 people, almost 8,434 of whom have died," said Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador Rodion Miroshnik, quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Saturday, July 4.
According to Miroshnik, from April to June 2026, as many as 422 Russian civilians died and more than 2,500 others were injured as a result of attacks launched by Ukrainian forces.
During this period, as many as 371 civilians were killed and around 2,300 others were injured due to attacks by drones.
Miroshnik also said that since February 2022, at least 1,336 children have been victims of the conflict. Of these, 264 children were reported dead.
"Since February 2022, Ukrainian militants have been responsible for the suffering of 1,336 minors, of which at least 264 children have been killed. Since 2014, the number of injured minors has reached 2,218 children, namely 1,845 injured and 373 killed," he said.
In addition to civilian victims, Miroshnik said three medical personnel died and 28 others were injured as a result of Ukrainian attacks from April to June.
"Although international humanitarian law strictly prohibits doctors, medical institutions, and ambulances from being targeted by the military, Kiev's armed groups have carried out these attacks almost every day," he said.
He also said emergency service officers were also victims during the recovery duty in the affected areas. According to him, seven officers died while on duty, while 26 others were injured with varying degrees of severity.
Amid the ongoing conflict, Gallup poll results show a majority of Ukrainians support starting negotiations with Russia as a path to resolving the conflict.
The survey said that as of June 30, as many as 66 percent of Ukrainians assessed that their country needed to immediately begin negotiations with Russia. Meanwhile, less than a quarter of respondents said they disagreed, while another 11 percent had not yet taken a position.
Gallup did not specify the time of the survey, the number of respondents, or the statistical error margin in the poll.
Meanwhile, the Xinhua news agency reported that at least 27 people were killed, dozens were injured, and eight people were still missing as a result of Russia's attack on Kiev, Ukraine, on Thursday (2/7).
