Two Demo Actions in Central Jakarta This Friday, the Police Deployed 1,074 Personnel

JAKARTA - A total of 1,074 joint police personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya, Central Jakarta Metro Police, and the police precinct were alerted to escort and secure two rallies in the Central Jakarta (Jakpus) area on Friday, July 3.

Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, said the first demonstration was held by a group of Pamulang University (UNPAM) students in the Monas area, Gambir.

"Security for the demonstration from the UNPAM Student Forum and several elements in the Gambir area, the plan is active at 13.00 WIB," said Erlyn in a statement quoted by Antara, Friday morning.

Furthermore, the second demonstration is planned to be held by student elements affiliated with the South Jakarta branch of the Islamic Student Association at the DPR/MPR Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

"The action of the management of the South Jakarta Branch of the Islamic Student Association, Coordinator of the National University Commission, in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building," said Erlyn.

Traffic engineering at the protest locations will be applied on a situational basis, taking into account the number of masses in the field.

The public is urged to avoid the area around the rally to anticipate traffic congestion.
