JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has prepared a number of steps to strengthen the preservation of Mohammad Hatta's heritage. The program includes arranging Bung Hatta's birthplace, inaugurating the Hatta-Sjahrir Museum, developing historical films, to proposing Bung Hatta's house in Megamendung as a National Cultural Heritage.

The commitment was conveyed by Fadli Zon when he received an audience with Meutia Hatta, the daughter of the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia and Proclaimer Mohammad Hatta, at the Ministry of Culture Office, Jakarta, Monday (29/6).

According to Fadli, Bung Hatta is one of the main figures who formed the foundation of the nation so that his footsteps and thoughts need to continue to be introduced to the younger generation.

"We will help to display the place of birth of Bung Hatta according to the timeline of his journey, including his photos and books," said Fadli.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture also plans to inaugurate the Hatta-Sjahrir Museum in Sukabumi, the former location of the exile of the two national figures. The government also prepares a competition for the making of historical films that highlight the story of Bung Hatta, as well as translating books about Bung Hatta into English so that they can be accessed by the international community.

Fadli also proposed that the Bung Hatta House in Megamendung, Bogor, be designated as a National Cultural Heritage. According to him, the historic building needs to be used as an educational space as well as a historical destination.

"I hope his house will be used as a destination and utilized," he said.

Meutia Hatta welcomed the government's plan. He supports the revitalization of various Bung Hatta relics as part of efforts to maintain the memory of the history of the Indonesian independence struggle.

The audience also discussed a number of historical preservation agendas that will be carried out together between the Bung Hatta family and the Ministry of Culture in the future.

Through this program, the government hopes that Bung Hatta's thoughts, examples, and contributions will not only be stored in historical archives, but also be present through museums, films, literature, and public spaces that are easily accessible to the public.
