Sold for Rp4.300 per Fruit, 3,000 Kg Durian in Malaysia Ludes in 5 Minutes

JAKARTA - A total of 3,000 kilograms (kg) of durian, which was priced at RM1 or around Rp4,300 per fruit, was sold out in just five minutes in Bukit Tunggal Village, Malaysia.

The durian seller, Muhammad Izhar Ibrahim, 27, sells more than one ton of durian every day at the cheapest price of Rp. 4,300 per fruit.

Izhar wants to give the opportunity to those who are less able to enjoy the 'king of fruit'.

He said that at various levels, sizes and types of durian were sold, including kampung durian, IOI, Red Shrimp, D24 and Musang King.

"I started this promotion last week as a form of appreciation to customers and to give the opportunity to those who are less able or have large families to enjoy durian to their heart's content," he said as quoted by Bernama, Monday, June 29.

"Although the cheapest price is RM1 per piece, the quality is still good and the flesh is in good condition. The only difference is that the fruit is smaller. So far, customers are very satisfied and many have come back to buy more," he continued.

Izhar said that every day, people started coming to his durian shop and queuing since 8 am.

He said, they want to take advantage of the massive discount Izhar's store can buy durian at a very cheap price.

As when met on Saturday, June 27, Izhar said the high enthusiasm for those who want to enjoy cheap durian made the goods sold out in just five minutes.

Furthermore, Izhar explained that the durian came from Perak, Pahang and Johor, three regions that produce the fruit and are recorded as being in surplus.

"Durian from Terengganu is still limited for now, maybe in a week or two," he continued.

"Alhamdulillah, this year everyone can enjoy durian to their heart's content. Even Musang King Grade A durian can now be obtained at a price as low as RM10 per kilogram," said Izhar.
