JAKARTA - The Indonesian government expressed its deep condolences to the government and people of Venezuela for the earthquake that hit the country on June 24, 2026.

"We also express our condolences to the families of the victims and all communities affected by this tragedy," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) through a post on X, Saturday (27/6).

The Indonesian government also expressed solidarity with Venezuela which is facing the disaster.

"We believe that the people of Venezuela have the strength and resilience to rise and recover," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote.

Twin earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.2 and 7.5 shook the northern coastal region of Venezuela on Wednesday night and were recorded as the strongest earthquake in the country in the last 125 years.

As of Friday, the number of deaths from the earthquake had risen to 920, while 3,630 others were injured, according to Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez, as quoted by Anadolu.

The La Guaira and Caracas regions were the areas with the most severe infrastructure damage.

The acting president of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez has declared a national state of emergency.

On Friday afternoon, a magnitude 4.9 aftershock shook Caracas and Maracay again in the middle of the evacuation process.
