Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) - The Dubai Emergency Response Center, United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent a third wave of assistance to help deal with the deadly Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

More than 76 tons of aid sent by Dubai Humanitarian arrived in Entebbe, Uganda on Sunday, according to a report by the Dubai Media Office.

The aid, which is estimated to be worth 223,150 US dollars, includes "sanitary equipment, fortified biscuits, tents, two vehicles, and equipment that supports safe and dignified burials," the media office said, launching The National (24/6).

The equipment was sent by "members of the Dubai Humanitarian community" including the UN Humanitarian Response Depot from the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

"This third airlift reflects the commitment of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates and the continued support of the government of Dubai in enabling rapid humanitarian action during times of crisis," said Giuseppe Saba, chief executive and board member of Dubai Humanitarian.

"We are grateful for the strong coordination with the European Union and the cooperation of our partners, whose collective efforts make it possible to respond quickly to emergencies and reach the most needy communities," he said.

Previously, the Director of Health Emergency Warning and Response Operations of the World Health Organization (WHO) Abdi Mahamud said the Congolese Ministry of Health recorded 1,048 confirmed cases including 267 deaths as of Monday (22/6), quoted from Anadolu.

"As the international humanitarian community works tirelessly with local authorities and frontline responders to contain this deadly outbreak, Dubai Humanitarian remains fully committed to supporting its members and partners through the logistical capabilities, coordination mechanisms, and collaborative platforms we provide," said Saba.

"Facilitating timely humanitarian assistance is the core of our work, especially during complex emergencies such as the current Ebola outbreak," he said.
