Taufik Hidayat, Suspect in the Kidnapping and Persecution of a Lover to the Point of Blindness, Arrested in Majalaya

JAKARTA - The escape of Taufik Hidayat (TH), the man who allegedly confined and abused his lover until he went blind, finally ended. The suspect was successfully arrested by the West Java Police team in the Bandung Police area, specifically in Majalaya District, Bandung Regency.

The news of the arrest was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan.

"The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police confirmed the success of the West Java Police in arresting the perpetrators of the persecution and kidnapping in the name of Taufik Hidayat in the Bandung Police's jurisdiction, namely in Majalaya," said Hendra when confirmed, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The West Java Police have named TH as a suspect in the alleged kidnapping and abuse of his lover. The police also formed a joint team to hunt down the perpetrators after the victim was found to have suffered serious injuries that resulted in blindness.

In this case, investigators charged TH with Article 466 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) as regulated in Law Number 1 of 2023.

Before the arrest was carried out, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Rudi Setiawan stated that his party involved all the Directorate of Investigation in the pursuit because the case was suspected of having a wide spectrum and was still being investigated.

Now, the suspect has been secured. However, the West Java Police have not revealed the chronology of the arrest or the results of the initial examination of the person concerned.

The West Java Police scheduled to provide official information regarding the arrest on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 12.30 WIB at the Riung Mumpulung Building, West Java Police Headquarters.

"Tomorrow afternoon in Riung Mumpulung at 12.30 WIB at the West Java Police," said Hendra.
