JAKARTA - The American AI company, Midjourney, has started to enter the health technology. The company, known for its AI-generated images, is preparing a body scanner that is targeted to work in less than 60 seconds.
Anadolu Agency, quoted on Saturday, June 20, reported that the device will be named Midjourney Scanner and developed through a new Midjourney Medical unit.
This technology is still in the development stage and has not become a commercial product. Midjourney says its goal is to make MRI-like body imaging faster and more accessible.
MRI is a medical examination to see the inside of the body in detail. Usually, the process requires a large machine and takes longer.
Midjourney designed the scanner to work in shallow water pools. The body will be scanned using an ultrasonic sensor ring. Ultrasonic sensors use high-frequency sound waves to read body parts.
The sensor will send waves from various angles, capture the signals that return from the body, and then convert the data into an image with the help of AI.
Midjourney is targeting the scanning process to be completed in less than 60 seconds.
The company is also preparing a Midjourney Spa concept to introduce the technology. The first facility is targeted to open in San Francisco in 2027.
The place is designed to have hot springs, saunas, cold water bathing areas, and a special room for body scanning.
In the next 12 months, Midjourney will focus on algorithm and hardware development. The company will also conduct research tests and prepare its first "research spa".
According to Anadolu Agency, Midjourney is targeting expansion to more cities and switching to third-generation scanners by 2028.
Its long-term plan is much bigger. The company wants to build a network of more than 50,000 scanners in various countries by 2031.
In the initial stage, Midjourney will provide users with a detailed body composition map. The company also plans to submit the results of routine testing to the US Food and Drug Administration or FDA so that the technology can obtain more advanced medical capabilities.
