JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) has changed the pattern of prohibiting illegal parking after the viral case of transporting an online motorcycle driver (ojol) in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta. Officers are now asked to prioritize a humanistic and dialog approach before bringing vehicles that violate the rules.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Budi Awaluddin confirmed that the controversy involving the ojol driver named Sulis or Agung had been resolved in a family way. This step was taken after the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung asked that the issue be handled immediately.

"Responding to some conditions that went viral in the news a few days ago, we can say that the problem has been resolved. The problem has been resolved," said Budi in a briefing for Dishub officers at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Sunday, June 21.

Budi explained that the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Directorate had visited Sulis' residence to socialize and calm down the noise that was developing on social media.

From that case, Dishub admitted that he had learned an important lesson in implementing enforcement of rules in the field. Although the enforcement of illegal parking is still carried out, officers are asked to prioritize communication with violators.

He said officers would be given time to ensure that the vehicle owner was at the location before the enforcement and transportation of vehicles were carried out.

"So don't wait, we'll wait for 5 minutes, is there a motorcycle, is the person here. 5 or how many minutes we'll see, if it's really raised (transported) the motorcycle and there's a person, then we'll lower it and we'll invite all our friends to a dialogue," explained Budi.

Budi also denied various information circulating on social media regarding the process of taking Sulis' vehicle. According to him, no fees or fines were imposed on the driver.

"We need to straighten out the news in the media as well, that the issue that is developing is that Mr. Sulis's motorcycle was detained, asked for Rp. 250 thousand, and three days if it was not taken it would be put in Satlantas, yes, like that that it was a hoax," he said.

He explained that Sulis took his vehicle on the same day after making a statement and was not charged anything.

"What actually happened was that on that day, Mr. Sulis or Mr. Agung, when he was promoted and immediately Mr. Sulis also took that day, and immediately took the motorcycle by just making a statement and would not repeat it again, and no fee was charged," said Budi.

In addition to evaluating the pattern of enforcement, Dishub also plans to strengthen cooperation with the ojol community. One of the agendas to be discussed is the provision of special parking spaces in buildings and shopping centers for ojol drivers.

Budi said that the Dishub would bring together the ojol community, application operators, and building managers to find solutions to parking problems, which have long been a source of violations.

"The result of our discussion yesterday with our brothers is that we will invite the ojol community, operators, and also building managers so that in the future there will be a place for ojol, these friends in the future can have a place to park given to ojol there," he said.

Not only that, Dishub also prepares a traffic safety seminar program, training for the ojol community, and the launch of a free pulsa call center to speed up reporting emergency conditions on the road.

"In the future, what we will do and Mr. the ojol community, if there is something on the road, a tree falls or a crash, immediately contact us. We will immediately create a free pulsa call center that we will launch soon," concluded Budi.
