JAKARTA - A panel of judges in the UK has sentenced two Ukrainian and Romanian men to prison for house and car fires linked to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Citing The Sun, Sunday, June 21, the two defendants are Roman Lavrynovych, 22, a citizen of Ukraine, and Stanislav Carpiuc, 27, a citizen of Romania.
According to the prosecutor, the two were offered money to carry out the attack via the Telegram messaging app by a Russian-speaking figure using the name "El Money".
One of the judges leading the sentencing hearing on Friday, June 19, Neil Garnham, said that Lavrynovych, who was sentenced to seven years in prison, had become a "useful idiot" used as a "spy" for "unknown purposes" and endangered his own life and that of others.
"You agree to carry out this mindless burning for money. You are not a person of high principles and you are easily bribed," he added.
Meanwhile, the defendant Carpiuc, who supported Lavrynovych's call and participated in this crime, was sentenced to two years in prison.
The two defendants carried out a night-long attack in May 2025 targeting two houses Starmer had once lived in in London, one of which was occupied by Starmer's brother-in-law, and one car owned by the British Prime Minister.
In a previous hearing at London's Old Bailey court last Monday, the two were found guilty by a jury of conspiracy to damage property by fire.
The prosecutor said the motive of the two defendants was not political, but purely criminal acts triggered by finances.
