BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto has requested the latest report on the readiness of national human resources (HR) to support the acceleration of downstream processing and the development of high technology-based industries.
The request was conveyed when the President received the Minister of Higher Education and Science and Technology at the Garuda Yaksa Training Center, Hambalang, Bogor, Wednesday (17/6).
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the President wanted to ensure the availability of skilled labor who could meet the needs of the future industry, including high-tech manufacturing and innovation-based economies.
"He wants to get updates from the Minister of Higher Education and Science Technology regarding the preparation of human resources management," said Prasetyo.
According to Prasetyo, the government is preparing various education, training, and competence improvement programs that are coordinated with the needs of strategic national industries.
This step is considered important because Indonesia is encouraging economic transformation through the downstreaming of natural resources and strengthening the technology sector which requires a large number of experts.
Prasetyo added that some of the human resources development programs had been implemented and were now entering the evaluation stage to measure the effectiveness and readiness for implementation in the field.
This discussion is a signal that the government is not only focused on industrial development, but also on providing human resources which are the main foundation of national competitiveness.
In addition to receiving reports related to human resources, the President also carried out routine coordination with a number of ministers to monitor the development of government priority programs.
