JAKARTA - A parachute plane crash near Butler Memorial Airport in the state of Missouri, United States, killed all 12 passengers on board.

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) said the doomed plane was a Pacific Aerospace P750 used for parachuting.

The plane crashed at around 23:35 WIB, Sunday, June 14, while attempting to take off from the airport. The agency said it did not provide air traffic control services to the plane when the accident occurred.

Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson said his office was treating the incident as a mass casualty incident.

"The plane took off, and at one point it fell," Anderson said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, June 15.

He ensured that the accident was completely unrelated to terrorism or criminal events. "This is likely an accident," he said.

Although he refused to give the exact number of victims of the accident, he only said there were "less than 20 victims", the FAA confirmed that there were 12 people on board the doomed plane.

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation into the plane crash incident.
