BOGOR - A total of six tons of cheap food materials were prepared by the Bogor Regency Government through the Special Cheap Food Movement (GPM) which was held at the VIP entrance to Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, Sunday, was greeted with enthusiasm by the public.
Head of the Bogor Regency Food Security Service, Teuku Mulya, said the Special GPM was held to make it easier for the public to obtain food at affordable prices while maintaining the stability of food supply and prices.
"The commodities available at this activity reached six tons," said Teuku Mulya.
Of the total commodities provided, as much as 3.2 tons of five-kilogram packaged rice became one of the main commodities that were most sought after by the public.
In addition to rice, GPM Istimewa also provides various other basic necessities, such as purebred chicken eggs, cooking oil, granulated sugar, chicken meat, chili, onions, and various vegetables.
At the event, five-kilogram packaged rice was sold for Rp54,500 per package, purebred chicken eggs for Rp22,500 per kilogram, cooking oil for Rp17,000 per liter, granulated sugar for Rp14,000 per kilogram, and chicken meat for Rp30,000 per chicken.
Meanwhile, various chili, onions, and vegetables are sold at a price of Rp. 10,000 per package.
Teuku said that GPM is one of the local government instruments to maintain the affordability of basic necessities while strengthening public access to food.
"We want to ensure that people can get basic needs at more affordable prices, especially commodities that are daily necessities," he said.
He hopes that similar activities can continue to be carried out periodically to help the community obtain quality food at prices cheaper than market prices.
