Police Ensure that the Mass Demonstration in the HI Roundabout Area Has Dispersed

JAKARTA - A number of mass action demonstrations in the Bundaran HI area, Menteng, Central Jakarta, have gradually disbanded on Friday, June 12, 2026, evening.

The mass that dispersed was a group of students who had previously held a demonstration in the area.

"For students, they have all turned right. Only the masses who are watching are left behind," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri to VOI.

Although there are still people crowding in the area near the demo point, Iptu Erlyn ensured that the situation in the area was still safe.

"It is still conducive. (protests) are still going on," he said.

Meanwhile, the police are still on duty in the area to anticipate any disturbances.

Previously reported, thousands of students and civil society alliances held a demonstration in front of the UOB building, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The mass group had a dispute with the police who were on duty because they were blocking.

However, the tension only occurred in the form of push-and-shove actions between the demonstrators and the police who carried out the blockade of the mass.

The estimated mass of students at that point was around 1,000 people. As a result of the demonstration, access along Jalan MH Thamrin to Bundaran HI was isolated.

The chairman of the UI BEM, Yatalathof Ma'sgum Imawan alias Athof expressed his disappointment at the unilateral blockade by the police.

He claimed to have sent an official notification letter to hold an action at HI Roundabout, but the plan was actually broken by the police and shifted the location of the demonstration.

"Everything was intercepted. We were also forced to demonstrate in the DPR. Although we planned and sent a letter to the Police to hold an action at the HI roundabout," he said.
