JAKARTA - The United States military has completed its latest series of attacks against Iran today, according to the US Central Command (US CENTCOM).
"CENTCOM forces launched an attack on Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communications systems, and air defense sites throughout Iran. US Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets fired precision munitions at Iranian targets that posed a threat to US forces and international commercial vessels traversing regional waters," CENTCOM wrote on X, CNN reported (11/6).
CENTCOM described the attack as a response to "unprovoked and sustained Iranian aggression." The attack began at 17:15 ET.
Ahead of the US CENTCOM announcement, President Donald Trump said US bombing of Iran would stop immediately, according to a Fox News correspondent, and senior Iranian officials called to ask him to stop the latest attack.
However, President Trump said the bombing would continue tomorrow night if a memorandum of understanding was not reached, according to Fox News.
Fox correspondent Trey Yingst said he spoke with President Trump while in the Situation Room with Vice President JD Vance and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
"President Trump told Fox, this is the most frequently violated ceasefire in the history of the world," Yingst said in a post on X.
Yingst said the President told him that 49 Tomahawk missiles had been fired.
As previously reported, US CENTCOM announced that the United States had launched attacks on several targets in Iran for the second consecutive day.
US CENTCOM described the attack as a response to "unjustified and ongoing Iranian aggression."
"US Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense attacks today at 17.15 ET against several targets in Iran at the direction of the Supreme Commander," US CENTCOM said in a post on X.
The attack followed President Donald Trump's statement that the US would launch a new wave of attacks because an agreement with Iran had not been reached.
"We're going to hit them, hit them very hard," President Trump said in the Oval Office of the White House on Wednesday.
"We hit them hard yesterday. We're going to hit them hard again today, if you miss it, if you don't turn on your television, and we'll see what happens with the deal," he explained.
