Faunaland Becomes New Manager of Bandung Zoo

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government has finally decided on the winner of the auction for the management of the Bandung Zoo or Bandung Zoo. PT Fauna Land Ancol or Faunaland, is now officially appointed to manage the area with a contract for 26 years.

Faunaland was officially designated by the Bandung City Government together with the Ministry of Forestry. This determination is a step to ensure the sustainability of the Bandung Zoo as a conservation institution, a means of environmental education, a family recreation space, and one of the public assets that have historical and social value for the people of Bandung City.

"We express our appreciation to the Selection Committee for working professionally and with caution. We are also grateful to the Ministry of Forestry for continuing to provide support and assistance so that this process can run well and continue to place the conservation function as the main priority," said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, Wednesday, June 10.

According to Farhan, the Bandung City Government places the functions of conservation, animal welfare and public interest as the main consideration in the selection process.

"For the Bandung City Government, the success of the management of the Bandung Zoo is not only measured by the number of visitors, but also by the quality of conservation, animal welfare, quality of education and benefits provided to the community. Therefore, we hope that the new manager can present an increasingly better and responsible management standard," he explained.

With the appointment of the new manager, the transition period will begin immediately to prepare for the revitalization of the area, strengthening the conservation function, improving the welfare of animals and preparing for the reopening of the Bandung Zoo to the public.

The Bandung City Government also ensures that this cooperation process provides long-term benefits for the city. In addition to strengthening the functions of conservation and public services, the new management has a commitment to revitalize the area, develop facilities, and investments that support the sustainability of the Bandung Zoo's operations in the future.

"The most important thing for us is the certainty of the future of the Bandung Zoo. We want to see this area come back to life, the wildlife is more prosperous, the conservation function is stronger and the benefits are greater for the people of Bandung City," he said.

Farhan said that the Bandung City Government would continue to monitor the transition process so that it runs according to the provisions.
