MATARAM - The Mataram District Court panel of judges sentenced Radiet Adiansyah to six years in prison for the death of student Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra on Nipah Beach, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
The Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Mukhlassuddin, in the verdict hearing at the Mataram District Court, stated that the defendant was found guilty of committing abuse resulting in death as the second alternative charge of the public prosecutor.
"To impose a sentence of six years in prison on the defendant Radiet Adiansyah," said Mukhlassuddin when reading the verdict, Wednesday, June 10, reported by ANTARA.
The panel of judges stated that the defendant's actions were proven to have violated Article 466 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).
The verdict differs from the prosecutor's demand, who previously asked the panel of judges to impose a 13-year prison sentence because the defendant was found guilty of committing the crime of murder.
In his demand, the prosecutor asked the judge to declare the defendant proven to have violated Article 458 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code as the first indictment of the public prosecutor.
This case began with the discovery of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra who died on the coast of Nipah Beach, North Lombok Regency, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
The body of a female student of a state university in Mataram City was found in a collapsed condition and allegedly died in an unnatural manner.
The victim was found with the defendant who was still alive, but had injuries all over his body.
When carrying out the crime scene, the police found a number of items belonging to the victim and the defendant, including the victim's motorcycle which was used by the two to go to the scene.
The defendant was then taken to the Nipah Health Center for medical treatment, while the victim's body was evacuated to Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital for further examination.
