Insufficient Proof, PN Central Jakarta Rejects PMH's Appeal against Jusuf Hamka

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta District Court (PN) rejected the Act Against the Law (PMH) lawsuit filed against Mohamad Jusuf Hamka in Case No. 720/Pdt.G/2025/PN Jkt.Pst. The decision was read at a hearing held on Tuesday, June 3.

Based on the ruling, the Panel of Judges stated that the plaintiff's lawsuit could not be granted. In its consideration, the Panel of Judges assessed that the arguments submitted by the plaintiff were not proven in accordance with the provisions of the applicable civil procedure law.

The matter concerns alleged acts against the law which are associated with statements made by Mohamad Jusuf Hamka in a trial process.

After examining the evidence, witness statements, and documents submitted by the parties during the trial, the panel of judges decided to reject the lawsuit.

In response to the verdict, lawyer for Mohamad Jusuf Hamka, Sogi Bagaskara, expressed respect and appreciation for the verdict handed down by the Central Jakarta PN.

"We respect and appreciate the decision of the panel of judges of the Central Jakarta District Court who have examined and decided this case based on the facts revealed during the trial, the evidence submitted by the parties, and the applicable legal provisions," Sogi said in his statement.

According to Sogi, the case from the beginning was a matter that had to be proven through the legal mechanism. He assessed that the trial process had provided space for the parties to present their arguments and evidence.

Sogi also conveyed his view that the ruling showed the importance of proof in every civil case.

According to him, every argument that is submitted must be supported by legal grounds and adequate evidence in accordance with applicable provisions.

Furthermore, Sogi revealed that the case was one of the cases entrusted directly by Mohamad Jusuf Hamka to him as a lawyer.

"The trust given by the client is a trust that must be carried out with full responsibility and professionalism," he said.

He added that the results of the case were part of the legal assistance process that he had carried out for the client.

"In the end, the court has given an assessment based on facts, evidence, and applicable legal provisions," he said.

He added that the ruling was a reminder of the importance of proof in every civil lawsuit filed in court.

Sogi also expressed his gratitude to his client for the trust given during the case handling process.

"This kind of trust cannot be obtained just because of the profession alone. Trust must be built through integrity, loyalty, hard work, accuracy in reading facts, courage to defend the truth, and consistency in providing the best legal services to clients," he concluded.
