President Prabowo Subianto has reorganized the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency or BGN after evaluating the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program for almost 1.5 years, one of the government's priority programs.
The decision was announced by the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 2.
Prasetyo said the President continued to monitor the performance of BGN because the institution holds a strategic role in the community nutrition improvement program.
"In carrying out daily duties, the President continues to monitor and evaluate the entire cabinet performance, including the performance of the BGN," said Prasetyo.
According to the Minister of Home Affairs, the evaluation was carried out by listening to input from related ministries, the public, to the beneficiaries of the MBG program.
The results of the evaluation led to the change of leadership of the BGN.
The President dismissed Dadan Hindayana from the position of Head of BGN. Two deputy heads of BGN, Lodewijk and Sony Sanjaya, were also replaced.
The government still appreciates the work of the three of them in building the initial foundation of the institution.
As a replacement, the President appointed Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of BGN. Agustina Arum Sari and Major General TNI Trenggono were appointed as Deputy Heads of BGN.
This change signals that the government wants to accelerate the implementation of MBG while strengthening the governance of the institution that is the spearhead of the program.
Prasetyo asked the new leadership to immediately carry out internal consolidation and strengthen coordination with ministries, institutions, and local governments.
The government also emphasized that the change of leadership should not interfere with the service and implementation of the MBG program in the field.
"This change of leadership will not disrupt our commitment to carrying out the MBG program," said Prasetyo.
According to Prasetyo, all BGN work units are still asked to work normally during the transition process.
Prasetyo said the government hoped that the new leadership would be able to improve the organization's performance, accelerate priority programs, and ensure that the benefits of the program were truly felt by the community.
The MBG program itself is one of Prabowo's flagship projects in the fields of nutrition, education, and human resource development. The government also hopes that the program will also help drive the local economy through the food supply chain and the involvement of local business actors.
