Lenteng Agung Road Towards Depok Batal Buka Subuh, DKI Police Ask for Forgiveness

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) apologized to the public because the Lenteng Agung Highway in the south direction to Depok was not opened according to schedule. Originally, the road section that collapsed due to damage to the underground channel was targeted to reopen on Tuesday, June 2 at 05.00 WIB.

This delay was forced to be carried out because the field work process was not completely completed. As a solution, the Dishub implemented a scheme for opening the lane gradually to ensure the safety of motorists. The track on the side of the railway is targeted to be crossed starting at 08.00 WIB, while for the other lanes it will only be opened in its entirety at 11.00 WIB.

"We understand that this condition has an impact on the mobility of residents who pass through the Lenteng Agung area. For this reason, we apologize for the delay in opening the road and appeal to the public to adjust the travel time and use the alternative routes that have been prepared," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Budi Awaluddin, Tuesday, June 2.

Budi explained that this extension of the working time was very crucial so that the repair results were really sturdy and safe before being hit by the heavy volume of vehicles. This delay was triggered by the sterilization process of the area by the DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Service which took longer than the initial estimate, so that the full physical work could only be given around 16.00 WIB the day before.

"The safety of workers and road users is the top priority. Therefore, all stages of work must be carried out according to procedures so that the repair results are safe and can be used again by the community," said Budi.

To break the traffic jam, the DKI Jakarta Office of Transportation continues to deploy personnel around the location to guide drivers to a number of alternative routes. Vehicles from Pasar Minggu to Depok are diverted through Lenteng Agung Highway, then turn back at the JPL 23 train crossing or Pancasila University, then continue through Moch. Kahfi II Street and Tanah Baru Street.

Another alternative, drivers can turn around at the front horseshoe roundabout of the Jakarta Institute of Social and Political Sciences (IISIP) towards Jalan TB Simatupang, then enter Jalan Kebagusan Raya or Jalan Raya Cilandak KKO towards Jalan Moh. Kahfi I. Road users can also choose a straight route through Jalan TB Simatupang, Jalan Raya Bogor, then turn into Jalan Akses Universitas Indonesia (UI) to reach Depok area.

Meanwhile, for heavy-tonnage vehicles coming from Tanjung Barat to Depok, the DKI Jakarta Dishub directs that they immediately use the toll-free lane through the Jagorawi Toll Road or the Depok-Antasari Toll Road (Desari). However, if they still have to use the arterial road, heavy vehicles are directed to cross TB Simatupang Road, Bogor Highway, and exit at the University of Indonesia (UI) Access Road. The Dishub appeals to the public to remain patient and comply with the instructions of officers who are on duty in the field.
