Rem Blong Car, 2 People Died on Bromo Tourist Route

Two people died in a single-vehicle accident on a jeep on the Bromo Mountain tourist route, Wonokitri Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency.

The Head of the Pasuruan Police, AKBP Harto Agung Cahyono, stated that the two deceased victims were vehicle drivers, namely MS residents of Malang Regency, and a tourist YWA.

"The vehicle is suspected of having a brake failure while crossing a descending road and a sharp turn so that the driver lost control and hit a cliff before finally rolling over," said Agung as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 29.

The incident occurred on Jalan Umum Jurusan Penanjakan-Lautan Pasir, precisely at the S letter bend of Wonokitri Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency, when a jeep-type vehicle with the police number BG 1478 EF was traveling from north to south.

Agung explained that the driver of the vehicle died at the scene, while the YWA tourist died on the way to the Sukapura Health Center, Probolinggo Regency, due to suspected internal bleeding in the abdomen.

Meanwhile, the other three passengers, namely FR, ZH, and FNNluka were injured and had undergone medical treatment.

Based on the results of the crime scene investigation, the police said the main factor in the accident was allegedly due to the vehicle's brakes not working properly, coupled with the road's downhill condition and a fairly sharp bend.

In addition, officers also suspect that the driver was not careful and was unable to control the speed of the vehicle when passing through the scene so that the accident could not be avoided.
