JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Alex Indra Lukman, reminded the Government that the post-flood disaster handling of Aceh-Sumatera was under one command. He asked the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) not to play its own style in the orchestration of post-disaster handling.
"The Minister of Finance told the media that there was a budget of Rp. 60 trillion from the efficiency for handling disasters that were not absorbed. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Forestry's additional budget request of Rp. 8.4 trillion has not been given until May 2026," Alex told reporters, Friday, May 29.
Alex said that the results of the discussion of Commission IV of the DPR with the Ministry of Forestry in February 2026 said that the additional budget would be used, among others, to replant (reforestation) forests that were the trigger for flooding.
"This reforestation will solve the upstream problem of flooding disasters. This means that this activity is very urgent. Moreover, the restoration of forests that are now in a very damaged condition, technically is not a simple problem and takes years to look like a forest again," said the PDIP Legislator from Dapil West Sumatra I.
Furthermore, the head of the Commission in the DPR who deals with forestry issues asked the relevant ministries and agencies to handle the impact of disasters to further intensify communication and coordination with the Task Force for Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR). "All activities that are planned must be ensured to get budgetary support. This means that the work of activities can be completed and leave no budget left," he explained.
For information, the DPR has approved the master plan (Renduk) for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Aceh-Sumatera Post-disaster which was proposed by the PRR Task Force. In the plan, there are 11,512 activity programs with a budget requirement of Rp. 100.1 trillion, for three years.
