Today Noel Reads the Defense in the K3 Certification Corruption of the Ministry of Manpower

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Minister of Manpower for the period 2024-2025, Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, is scheduled to read a plea or defense note in the case of alleged extortion of the management of the Occupational Safety and Health Certificate (K3) at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) of the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, May 25.

Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Andi Saputra, said the pleidoi trial would be held at around 10.00 WIB in the Kusuma Atmadja room.

"The pleidoi trial is planned to be held at 10.00 WIB," said Andi Saputra, quoted from Antara, Monday morning.

The trial was chaired by the Head of the Panel of Judges, Nur Sari Baktiana.

Previously, Noel was sentenced to five years in prison, a fine of Rp. 250 million, a 90-day sub-sentence, and a compensation of Rp. 4.43 billion, a two-year sub-sentence.

In this case, Noel was charged with extortion against applicants for K3 certification and licenses in the Ministry of Manpower during the 2024-2025 period. The value of the alleged extortion is said to have reached IDR 6.52 billion.

In addition to extortion, Noel was also charged with receiving gratification in the form of money worth Rp. 3.36 billion and one unit of a blue-colored Ducati Scrambler motorcycle from the state civil apparatus (ASN) Kemnaker and other private parties while serving as deputy minister.

The case also dragged 10 other defendants, namely Temurila, Miki Mahfud, Fahrurozi, Hery Sutanto, Subhan, Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra, Irvian Bobby Mahendro Putro, Sekarsari Kartika Putri, Anitasari Kusumawati, and Supriadi.

The public prosecutor assessed that the defendants obtained profits from the alleged extortion practice with different nominal amounts.

In addition to the criminal imprisonment and fine, a number of defendants are also required to pay compensation for allegedly enjoying the flow of corrupt funds.

For his actions, Noel was charged with Article 12 letter e or Article 12 letter b and Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes which has been amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, as well as provisions in the National Criminal Code.
