The head of the Bulungan Police, Kombes Rofikoh Yunianto, said that after the extinguishing and cooling process, the police immediately secured the location of the fire to maintain the condition of the crime scene (TKP).

He emphasized that the fire area had been equipped with a police line and was set in a status quo until the investigation process was completed.

"For the time being we cannot conclude whether the fire was caused by a short circuit or other factors. Currently the location is still guarded by members of the Bulungan Police while waiting for the Forensic Laboratory team to arrive," he said.

Polresta Bulungan together with the Kaltara Police have coordinated with the Central Forensic Laboratory Team (Puslabfor) of the National Police from Surabaya, East Java. The team is scheduled to arrive in Bulungan on Friday (22/5/2026) afternoon to carry out the crime scene and further examination.

"Insyaallah tomorrow afternoon (Friday) the Labfor team will arrive in Bulungan and immediately carry out the crime scene. If the time is not enough, the examination will continue the next day," he explained.
