JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially extended the construction of the Jakarta LRT to Dukuh Atas. The decision was made by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung after considering the financial capacity of the region and the connectivity of public transportation in Jakarta.
The extension of the line makes the Jakarta LRT route currently being built from Velodrome-Manggarai will be continued to Dukuh Atas. The total length of the track also increases to 14.2 kilometers with 12 stations.
"Yesterday I decided in a meeting after receiving input, suggestions, considerations, and also the fiscal capacity of the DKI Jakarta Government, for the LRT that was decided was an extension from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas to complete one line from the Velodrome to Dukuh Atas," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, May 20.
According to Pramono, the decision to extend the route to Dukuh Atas was taken so that the Jakarta LRT route would be connected with the integration of other transportation services more optimally.
Currently, the Jakarta LRT has been operating to serve the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome route. Meanwhile, the construction of the Velodrome-Manggarai track is still underway. With the addition of an extension to Dukuh Atas, the project requires an additional investment of around Rp. 2.7 trillion.
"The length finally became 12.2 plus 2 kilometers to 14.2. The station became 12. Then there was an addition of investment or budget of approximately 2.7 trillion," said Pramono.
On the other hand, the DKI Provincial Government has also started to prepare the development of the Jakarta LRT line to the north and west. The line will later connect Velodrome-JIS-Ancol to be continued to PIK 2 and Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Pramono assessed that the integration of LRT, MRT, and regional transportation networks will be the key to Jakarta's connectivity in the future. Moreover, the central government is also preparing the Balaraja-Cikarang cross MRT project.
"So if it can be done, all the loops and also north-south and central which will later have an MRT from Balaraja-Cikarang, that is what will make the connectivity in Jakarta even better. That's what we decided," said Pramono.
It is known that until now the DKI Provincial Government is still carrying out the construction of the Jakarta LRT phase 1B. This route has a 6.4 kilometer long route that has 5 stations, namely Pemuda Rawamangun Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pramuka Market Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.
So far, 6 LRT stations have been operating with a length of 5.2 kilometers in phase 1, namely Pegangsaan two, North Boulevard Station, South Boulevard Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.
If phase 1B has been built, the Jakarta LRT has a route length of 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai Station.
