JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours had triggered flooding disasters that hit a number of areas in three provinces, namely Central Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and West Java.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that flooding from the overflow of river water due to high rainfall intensity caused thousands of residents' houses and public facilities to be submerged, forcing some residents to evacuate.

The BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) reported that in Central Sulawesi Province, flooding hit Tuladenggi Pantai Village, Moutong District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Monday (18/5). This disaster affected 66 residents and flooded 66 houses, one health facility, one worship facility, and one public facility.

Meanwhile, a fairly large flood hit South Kalimantan Province which was spread over two areas, namely Tapin Regency and Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. In Tapin, as many as 155 houses in Lawahan Village, South Tapin District, were flooded which affected 589 people.

In Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, the flood submerged three sub-districts with damage reaching 2,489 residents' houses, 12 units of worship facilities, 13 units of educational facilities, and 15 office units, with a water level ranging from 10 to 60 centimeters.

Meanwhile, on Java Island, flooding hit Cirebon Regency, West Java, due to the overflowing of river water into residential areas in four sub-districts.

"The current conditions in Parigi Moutong and Cirebon are reported to have started to recede.
