JAKARTA - Iran has stated that it will not participate in a second round of negotiations with the United States as long as its demands are met to restore trust with Washington.

Farspada News Agency Tuesday (12/5) revealed, quoting sources, the conditions from Iran are "minimum guarantees" that must be met so that new negotiations with America can be carried out.

The five demands of Iran are to end the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon; lifting sanctions; unfreezing Iran's frozen assets; compensation for war damages; and recognition of Iran's sovereignty rights in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has also conveyed to Pakistan, as a mediator, the continuation of the US naval blockade in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman after the ceasefire further increased Iran's distrust of conducting the latest talks on negotiations with the US, according to the source.

The report added that Iran's demands were solely to create trust to return to the negotiating table. Tehran also believes that negotiations cannot begin without concrete implementation of the five conditions.

According to Fars, the five conditions from Iran were submitted in response to 14 points of proposal from the American side. The American proposal was considered too biased and only as an effort to secure the goals that failed to be achieved in the war.

The Americans and Israelis launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28 which triggered Iran's retaliatory attacks against Israel and US allies in the Persian Gulf, leading to a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The ceasefire was also achieved on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan. However, later, the negotiations that were running in Islamabad failed to reach a long-term agreement. The ceasefire was then extended by President Trump until an unspecified time.

On Sunday (10/5), Iran conveyed to Pakistan its response to the US proposal to end the war. US President Donald Trump called Iran's response completely unacceptable.
