Jembrana - The Jembrana Police (Polres) arrested two perpetrators of falsifying documents for the shipment of cows, with initials S (41) and AS (34) in Jembrana Regency, Bali, while they were going to cross the livestock from Gilimanuk Port.

"This case was revealed when colleagues from the Gilimanuk Quarantine Center suspected that the documents used to cross the cows were fake. After checking internally at the quarantine, they reported to us," said Jembrana Police Chief AKBP Kadek Citra Dewi Suparwati in Negara, Jembrana Regency, Saturday afternoon.

He said the local quarantine office conducted an initial check on the Animal Health Certificate (SKH), including confirming to the person whose identity was stated on the document.

From the confirmation to the person whose identity was used in the SKH, he said, the information was obtained if the person concerned did not send cows out of Bali.

"Based on the initial evidence from the Quarantine, we conducted further investigations and arrested two suspects," he said.

In this case, according to him, the US played a role in falsifying documents, while S sold them for Rp. 1,240,000 for each cow.

From the suspects, he said, his party seized a number of evidence, including Rp. 26 million in cash, quarantine stamps, mobile phones, laptops and falsified documents.

"This document will be further examined by Puslabfor. We are also deepening the case to uncover the entire syndicate," he said.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jembrana Police, AKP I Gede Alit Darmana, said the two perpetrators were quite well known among cattle traders because they had worked in the business.

"The driver or the owner of the sent cow did not know that the documents were fake because they entrusted the management to the two perpetrators," he said.

According to him, in the perpetrator's mobile phone, 15 fake SKH documents were found that were ready to be printed.

"The two suspects admitted that they only carried out their actions in May. But we will continue to investigate, including if there is a possibility of other perpetrators," he said.

For the cows currently secured at the Quarantine Center, said I Putu Agus Kusuma Atmaja from the Gilimanuk Quarantine Center, the livestock will be returned to their original areas.

Meanwhile, regarding the initial disclosure of this case, his party has suspected one of the trucks that entered the Gilimanuk Port from the monitoring of the camera system through closed circuit television (CCTV).

"We suspect that the truck carrying the cows did not pass through the quarantine post inspection. We stopped the vehicle in the port area," he said.

When the SKH document was examined, he said, a number of irregularities were found which were strong indications that the document was false.

"One of them is that the barcode is not connected to the quarantine hall link. When we checked the document number to the internal application, the document was not issued by the quarantine hall," he said.

As a result of their actions, S and AS were charged with Article 391 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
