PBNU Holds Congress 1-5 August to Choose New Ketum

JAKARTA - The General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has determined that the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress will be held on August 1 - 5, 2026.

"Insyaallah the NU Congress will be held on August 1 to 5, 2026," said Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Executive Board (Sekjen PBNU) Saifullah Yusuf as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 7.

However, PBNU has not decided on the location of the Muktamar.

A number of regions have been proposed to host the NU Congress.

However, the determination of the location of the activity is still under discussion by considering ease of access, availability of facilities and infrastructure, and the preparation time which is considered short.

"There are several areas that have proposed to host such as NTB, West Sumatra, and in East Java. But everything will depend on the results of the meeting by considering various things including access, facilities, with consideration of a very short time, about two months," said Saifullah Yusuf.

The Secretary General of PBNU who also serves as the Minister of Social Affairs ensured that the main agenda of the 35th NU Congress was the election of the NU General Chairperson.

In addition, people who are influential will also be selected to join the ranks of Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi (AHWA).

This Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi is the mechanism for the election of the Rais Aam.

Until now, preparations for the 35th NU Congress are still being perfected.

PBNU is also verifying the list of participants who have the right to vote.

Before the 35th NU Congress was held, PBNU was scheduled to hold the National Conference (Munas) of Alim Ulama and the Great Conference (Konbes) in June 2026.

The results of the Munas and Konbes will be used as material in the Muktamarke-35NU.
