JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon considers Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 as a way for Indonesian artists to expand their networks, reach new audiences, and compete on the international stage.

The statement was made by Fadli when opening Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 at Plataran Hutan Kota, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

"This exhibition opens up opportunities for Indonesian artists to showcase their best works, expand their networks, and reach a more diverse audience," said Fadli.

According to Fadli, Art Jakarta Gardens is not just a showroom. He calls this event a means of public education so that the public is closer to fine art and sees it as an important part of cultural life.

This outdoor exhibition will take place on May 5-10, 2026. A total of 26 galleries from Indonesia and abroad will take part. More than 30 sculptures and installations are displayed, including works by Sunaryo and Nyoman Nuarta.

Fadli said the government also involved cultural actors from the National Talent Management of Cultural Arts. The program is aimed at preparing new artists to be able to compete at the national and international levels.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said Art Jakarta Gardens shows a strong relationship between art, culture, and the creative economy.

"Indonesia's source code is a culture. If there is no culture, creativity will not take root," said Irene.

Art Jakarta Gardens has been held every year since 2021. This year, the event once again confirmed that Indonesian fine art needs more space, access, and networks so that it does not stop as a work, but also becomes a cultural force that is taken into account.
