JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Charles Honoris, criticized the policy of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) which still provides incentives to as many as 1,720 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) must be temporarily closed. According to him, this is unreasonable and even more than a logical flaw.
"The statement of the Head of BGN that his party still poured incentives of Rp. 6 million per day to SPPG which was temporarily closed is not merely a logical defect, but a moral scandal and naked insult to public reason," Charles Honoris told reporters, Wednesday, April 29.
Charles also assessed that the reason for the Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana who argued that incentives would continue to be disbursed because the SPPG continued to carry out activities until operations resumed was not justified. Moreover, he said, the provision of incentives was in the midst of the Government's claim that it was carrying out budget efficiency.
"On the one hand, the government continues to promote the rhetoric of budget efficiency and savings at all levels, but on the other hand, state funds are brutally squandered to finance units that are not operating because they are violating," he said.
According to Charles, the BGN policy is very hurtful to the people. Where at this time, many people are having difficulties, especially those who have not felt the justice of the State.
"In the midst of the fate of honorary teachers who are still worrying and the difficulty of employment for young people, the government is so generous to give a 'gift' to the problematic SPPG. How is it possible that the party who has been negligent to the point of causing people to be poisoned, a fatal failure in public service, will still get a shower of Rp6 million every day?" said the PDIP politician.
Charles also highlighted the information provided by BGN regarding the number of kitchens that were closed. Because he received reports, the number of kitchens that had been closed amounted to 3,778, not as many as 1,720 as announced by the Head of BGN.
"If the SPPG-SPPG has problems, it will be closed for 2 weeks, the state should be able to save Rp 317 billion," explained Charles.
According to the Head of the House of Representatives Commission on Health and Nutrition, this amount can be allocated for other more important programs, especially in the education and health programs. "It should be used for education programs or improving the welfare of health workers on the front lines, not even thrown away for free to pay for units that are being sanctioned," said the Legislator from the DKI Jakarta III District.
Charles stated that Commission IX of the DPR would ask for an explanation from the Head of BGN to account for the use of this budget, which has attracted a lot of public attention, in the upcoming working meeting.
"The purpose of this Free Nutritious Meal is for child nutrition improvement, not for project sharing. Don't let the essence of improving people's nutrition be betrayed by a corrupt management," he concluded.
For information, the Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana revealed that as many as 1,720 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Indonesia were temporarily stopped. Thousands of kitchens of the Free Nutritious Program (MBG) were still receiving incentives of Rp. 6 million per day even though their operations had been stopped.
