BEKASI - President Prabowo Subianto moved quickly to respond to the fatal train accident (KKA) that occurred at the East Bekasi Station. After visiting the victims at the Dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Hospital, Bekasi City, on Tuesday (28/4/2026), the President emphasized emergency steps to overhaul the national transportation safety system.

President Prabowo expressed his deep condolences for the loss of life and injuries in the incident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL.

"I came to Bekasi Hospital today. Of course we are all concerned and shocked by this accident. On behalf of the government and the government, I express my condolences. We will immediately conduct a thorough investigation to find out the exact cause," said the President to the media.

Concrete Solution: Bekasi Flyover Development Approved

Aware of the very high traffic density in Bekasi, President Prabowo immediately gave strategic instructions. He agreed to build a flyover at vulnerable points to cut off the meeting of a piece between the highway and the railway.

"The Bekasi Regional Government has proposed the construction of a flyover because this area is very crowded. The need for train travel is very important and urgent, so I have agreed to immediately build a flyover through the President's assistance," he said.

This step is expected to be a permanent solution to eliminate a piece of crossing that is often a blind spot for accidents, especially those triggered by vehicles breaking down on the tracks.

1.800 Point Arrangement for Crossing the Island of Java

The East Bekasi tragedy became an opportunity for the government to evaluate the railway infrastructure massively. The President revealed that there were around 1,800 similar crossing points on Java Island that needed urgent handling.

The government has instructed the acceleration of repairs through two main schemes:

Physical Development: Construction of flyovers or underpasses at dense points. Security Improvement: Addition of guard posts and automatic gates at crossings that have not been guarded so far.

"I have ordered, all the tracks must be repaired immediately. Whether by making a guard post or building a flyover," continued President Prabowo.

Victim and Compensation Conditions

Regarding medical treatment, the President ensured that all victims received the best treatment. Based on his monitoring, some of the victims have been allowed to go home, while the rest are still under the intensive supervision of the medical team.

The President also guaranteed that all costs and rights of the victims would be met in accordance with the applicable procedures. "Basically everything has been taken care of. Later there will be compensation, everything is in accordance with the provisions," he concluded.
