JAKARTA - The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) paid the last respects to Praka Rico Pramudia who died after a month of treatment for injuries suffered after the Israeli attack on March 29, 2026.

The last tribute was given by UNIFIL in a ceremony in Beirut on Sunday (26/4), led by the Head of Mission and UNIFIL Commander Major General Diodato Abagnara.

"You have given everything you have for peace in this land. For that, we pay the highest respect," said Major General Abagnara, according to a written statement from UNIFIL reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 27.

According to Abagnara, Praka Rico carried out his duties under the banner of the UN for a noble task, namely to bring about peace in southern Lebanon.

"As soldiers, as peacekeepers, we will continue your struggle. We will continue to be ready, continue to be united, and continue to be vigilant," said the UNIFIL commander.

The ceremony in Beirut was also attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Dicky Komar, representatives of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense and the Lebanese Army Brigadier General Maroun Azzi, as well as representatives of the Garuda Contingent at UNIFIL Colonel Allan Surya Lesmana.

UNIFIL stressed that attacks on peacekeepers are a grave violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006, and could constitute war crimes.

"The attack on UNIFIL personnel must be thoroughly investigated, and all those responsible must be brought to justice in accordance with applicable law," UNIFIL said.

Praka Rico died on Friday (24/4) after being treated for almost a month for the injuries he suffered in an artillery attack in Adchit Al-Qusayr on March 29, with initial findings indicating that the projectile was fired from an Israeli Merkava tank.

Praka Rico left behind a wife and a child, while the peacekeeping duty he carried out in Lebanon since the beginning of April was his first mission abroad.

With the death of Praka Rico, Indonesia has lost four TNI soldiers while serving with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon in the past month.

Praka Farizal Rhomadhon died as a result of the incident on March 29 in the same incident that initially injured Praka Rico. Then on March 30, Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, were killed when the convoy of troops they were guarding was attacked.

Besides Indonesia, France also lost two soldiers who served with UNIFIL after their patrol was attacked on April 18, amid rising tensions in southern Lebanon.
