JAKARTA - The Indonesian government expressed its condolences for the death of Head Soldier (Praka) Rico Pramudia, a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon/UNIFIL), after previously undergoing intensive treatment for the serious injuries he suffered in an incident at the end of March 2026.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela said the government paid the highest respect to Praka Rico and was coordinating with UNIFIL to ensure that the repatriation of the body was carried out immediately and with full respect.
"The government expresses its deepest condolences to the families left behind. The state is present to pay the highest respect for the deceased's dedication and sacrifice for world peace," said Nabyl as quoted from a video statement, Saturday (25/4).
Praka Rico passed away after being treated intensively for almost a month after suffering serious injuries from an artillery explosion from an Israeli tank near the city of Adchit Al Qusayr, South Lebanon on March 29.
Nabyl added that the Indonesian government has been working with UNIFIL, the Lebanese government, and medical teams in Beirut to ensure optimal medical treatment. However, Rico's condition is quite severe.
"Various medical steps have been tried, but due to the quite heavy wound condition, the deceased's life could not be saved," added Nabyl.
On the same occasion, Nabyl said that Indonesia again strongly condemned the Israeli attack which resulted in the death of Indonesian peacekeepers.
The government insists that safety and
The security of UN peacekeepers cannot be negotiated. Therefore, attacks against personnel are a serious violation of international law and can be categorized as war crimes.
"Indonesia urges the UN to conduct a thorough, transparent, and accountable investigation to uncover the facts and ensure accountability for this incident," said Nabyl.
Praka Rico became the fourth Indonesian personnel who died while serving under the command of UNIFIL. Previously, the same attack had killed Praka Farizal Rhomadhon at the scene. Then, a day later, Infantry Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ichwan, also died due to an attack that arose near Bani Haiyyan, South Lebanon.
