Police Arrest Two Fugitives for the Murder of a Father-Son in Central Sumba

KUPANG - The Joint Team of Satintelkam and Satreskrim of the West Sumba Police, East Nusa Tenggara Police, arrested DLJ (47) and PLP (32) in the Central Sumba Regency who were wanted by the police in the case of the murder of a father and child in the area.

"The two perpetrators were successfully surrounded on Thursday after receiving reports from local residents," said the West Sumba Police Chief, AKBP Yohanis Nisa Pewali, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 24.

This was conveyed by him regarding the development of the case of the murder of a child and his father who is a farmer in Central Sumba Regency.

He explained that residents reported the case through the 110 call center, and were immediately responded to by officers who were on picket that day.

He explained that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at around 23.55 Wita, in Wacubakul Village, Maderi Village, West Umbu Ratu Nggay District, Central Sumba Regency.

After receiving a report during the incident that night through the 110 Call Center, the West Sumba Police immediately moved quickly to the scene in the Central Sumba Regency.

The team carried out the crime scene investigation (TKP) and the evacuation of the victim was carried out to collect initial evidence.

The West Sumba Police Chief, AKBP Yohanis Nisa Pewali, then formed a joint team from Satintelkam and Satreskrim to pursue the perpetrators.

Based on the results of development and information in the field, the identity of the perpetrator can be bagged.

The perpetrator is known to have fled and hid in the area of South West Sumba Regency.

The pursuit effort bore fruit. On Thursday (23/4), the joint officers finally managed to arrest and secure two perpetrators in the South West Sumba Regency area.

Both of them are DLJ (47), residents of Wangga Wehingu, Umbu Ratu Nggay Tengah District, and PLP (32), residents of Mataredi, Katikutana District, Central Sumba Regency.

In addition to securing the perpetrator, the police also secured a number of evidence related to the crime.

Currently, both perpetrators have been secured at the West Sumba Police to undergo further legal proceedings.

From the initial examination, it was found that the motive for the murder was allegedly motivated by personal grudge.

He also emphasized that the investigation process should be carried out professionally and thoroughly, so that the perpetrators can be held accountable for their actions in accordance with applicable laws.
