TANJUNGPINANG - Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has asked the management of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in the Riau Islands to put a time limit label on the menu of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program to prevent cases of poisoning.

Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Nihayatul Wafiroh, said the label was important so that beneficiaries knew the safe limit of food to consume.

"The label can be put on the MBG ompreng so that the recipient knows when the safe time limit to consume food," said Wafiroh after reviewing the SPPG kitchen of the Tanjungpinang Police, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 23.

He highlighted the case of poisoning experienced by students due to consuming food beyond the time it should be. Therefore, the implementation of labels is considered an urgent preventive measure.

In addition, Commission IX also provided notes regarding hygiene standards, especially on the ompreng washing line to be more hygienic and standardized.

Wafiroh appreciated the SPPG managed by the Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation for having implemented a food test before the food was distributed.

"This food test is important to ensure that the MBG menu is safe to consume," he said.

During the visit, the Commission IX delegation also reviewed the distribution of MBG at Tanjungpinang Catholic Elementary School. He said the students seemed enthusiastic about eating the food, with chicken menu being a favorite.

Wafiroh encouraged schools to actively provide input on menus that students are interested in, as well as to establish intensive communication with SPPG managers, including through a WhatsApp group to speed up coordination if there are obstacles.

"Joint supervision of all stakeholders is very necessary so that this program runs optimally," he said.

This visit also involved a number of related institutions, including the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), BKKBN, BPOM, BPJS Kesehatan, and BPJS Employment.
