AMBON - The Maluku Tenggara Police (Malra) arrested three suspected perpetrators of the murder of a man in Ohoi Bombay, Kei Besar District, less than 24 hours after the incident.

Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Kombes Pol Rositah Umasugi, said the three suspected perpetrators with initials IR, TO, and BB had been secured.

"The three suspected perpetrators were arrested less than 24 hours after the incident that killed Deizen Berty Lutur (29)," said Rositah, Wednesday, April 23.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21 at around 09.30 WIT on Jalan Bukit Indah (Ave Maria), when the victim was riding with a witness, Imanuel Lutur, to the Elat Police.

According to Rositah, the victim and witnesses had crossed paths with the perpetrators who then turned around and followed them. One of the perpetrators allegedly attacked the witness with scissors, but managed to avoid it.

The victim then got off the motorcycle, while the witness fled. From a distance of about 15 meters, the witness saw the victim being mobbed before the victim tried to save himself into the forest.

Around 10.00 WIT, the victim was found by residents in a dead condition with a stab wound to the left neck.

The police secured a number of evidence at the scene, including a pair of sandals, glasses, and a pair of scissors that were allegedly used in the attack. The victim's body has been evacuated to Pratama Elat Hospital for visa purposes.

The Kei Besar Police Chief and his staff then carried out a pursuit and arrested the perpetrators gradually in a number of locations from 12.30 WIT to 15.00 WIT.

"We ensure that the police act quickly and proportionately. The three suspected perpetrators have been secured, the current situation is safe and conducive," said Rositah.

The police are still investigating the motive for the murder and the possibility of other parties involved in the case.
