PEKANBARU - The Riau Regional Police seized 41 tons of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) type solar and 1.7 tons of pertalite and secured 39 suspects in the disclosure of 22 cases of subsidized energy irregularities in the local area.

"In a period of two weeks, we uncovered 22 cases of subsidized fuel fraud with 39 suspects," said the Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Riau Police, Kombes Ade Kuncoro Ridwan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 23.

He explained that the disclosure of the case was carried out by the Riau Police together with the resort police. The Subdirectorate IV of the Special Criminal Investigation Unit (Tipidter) of the Riau Police itself handled six cases with 12 suspects.

Meanwhile, 16 other cases were revealed by the police in 12 districts/cities in Riau. During the operation, the police also seized 18 four-wheeled and six-wheeled vehicles used by the perpetrators to transport subsidized fuel from the General Fuel Filling Station (SPBU).

In addition to fuel, officers also secured evidence of the misuse of subsidized LPG gas, namely 194 3-kilogram tubes and 55 12-kilogram tubes.

"The suspects and the evidence have been secured for further investigation," he said.

Ade emphasized that this disclosure is part of the law enforcement effort against the practice of misuse of subsidized energy distribution that is detrimental to the state and society.

"This is a follow-up to the President's order to ensure that subsidized fuel distribution is targeted. We will not give room for abusers," he said.

In addition to enforcement, the police also took preventive measures by installing warning signs and banners at a number of gas stations. The warning contains a ban on the misuse of subsidized fuel and a warning that gas stations do not serve purchases by unauthorized parties.

The police emphasized that the distribution of subsidized fuel must be in accordance with the provisions and only for people who are entitled. Gas stations that are proven to violate or cooperate with irresponsible parties will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable laws.
