Finally, Jusuf Kalla apologized for being able to explain the viral problem

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, apologized for only appearing in public to explain a number of viral problems related to him.

"First, I apologize for only being able to explain the viral problems today, because I just came back from Japan this morning," said the man who is familiarly called JK in a press conference in Jakarta, Saturday, April 18, quoted from ANTARA.

JK explained that he wanted to explain to the public about the video clip of the lecture he delivered at the Gadjah Mada University Mosque (UGM) in Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

"I want to answer, explain about my lecture, the Ramadan lecture. The Ramadan lecture means that only Muslims are present, yes, in the mosque again. Then on campus, it means that the people who are present are intellectuals. That's what needs to be understood about that situation," he said.

Then he showed a video clip related to the Maluku and Poso conflicts to the audience. The two conflicts were shown, he said, because they were one of the topics of the lecture that went viral among the public.

"Because this concerns Maluku and Poso, before I want to explain, I want to show you a glimpse, because you are still young, maybe some of you have not been born, that's why it happened about 26 years ago," he said.

He explained that the video was only a part of the overall conflict.

"I turned the video first. This video is only the opening of the conflict, not the essence because what journalists could take at that time was only in the city," he explained.

After playing the video, JK stated that the lecture at UGM was about peace, not insulting religion.

"I was invited, came, because the theme is peace. So, especially the theme is about peace steps, more or less so," he said.

Previously, JK gave a lecture at the UGM Mosque on March 5, 2026 or in the context of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. The lecture was entitled Indonesian Diplomacy Strategy in Mitigating the Potential for Escalation of Multipolar Regional War.

However, the lecture went viral in mid-April 2026.

JK was even reported by the DPP of the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI) to the Polda Metro Jaya for his lecture, especially regarding the statement of martyrdom. The DPP of GAMKI reported JK on April 12, 2026.
