Pramono Reveals The Weeknd Will Hold a Concert in Jakarta

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung leaked plans for an international musician concert The Weeknd in Jakarta. He received the information directly from PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) President Director Iwan Takwin.

Pramono admitted that he was quite enthusiastic about the news. He even named The Weeknd as one of his favorite musicians. Pramono hopes that if The Weeknd performs in Jakarta, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) managed by Jakpro as DKI BUMD will be his choice.

"I got a report from the CEO of Jakpro, The Weeknd. Yes, The Weeknd is my favorite. It will play, hopefully this can really (come true)," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, April 16.

Even so, he has not detailed the exact schedule and location of the concert. This plan is still waiting for further realization from the parties concerned.

In addition to The Weeknd, Pramono also expressed his desire to bring the South Korean music group, BTS, to perform at JIS. So far, the promoter has confirmed that BTS will perform in Jakarta in December 2016.

"What I haven't succeeded in is that I really want BTS to play there. This is another fight for whether it's at JIS or at GBK. Yes, even though both are in Jakarta, but I really want, what GBK, what JIS, it's a challenge if what if BTS plays there," said Pramono.

On the other hand, Pramono also touched on the readiness of supporting infrastructure in the JIS area which continues to be improved, including transportation access and parking arrangements. Where, in June 2026, the JIS Commuter Line KRL station will be inaugurated.

In addition, Pramono revealed that visitors to JIS can also park their personal vehicles in the Ancol area because the bridge connecting the two locations has been prepared.

"Later the parking will no longer be at JIS, the parking will be at Ancol, 10,000 cars can also be allowed and will not cause congestion so that people can enjoy watching Persija, watching Bruno Mars, watching Adam Levine," he explained.

For information, global R&B musician The Weeknd is rumored to be returning to tour in the Asian region. This discourse emerged amid a series of world tours that are still expanding until 2026.

Information about the Asia Tour circulated on social media and a number of fan channels. In the uploaded material, it was stated that the singer was preparing a series of concerts in Asia as part of the continuation of his global tour.
