When the Police, Prison, and Rutan Synergy, Failed to Smuggle Opium in Kotabumi Prison

KOTABUMI - The synergy or cooperation between the North Lampung Police, Kotabumi Class IIA Prison, and Kotabumi Class IIB Prison has again shown concrete results in efforts to eradicate drugs.

The collaboration managed to uncover and thwart the smuggling of prohibited goods suspected of being methamphetamine into the prison environment.

This incident occurred on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at around 08.47 WIB at the Kotabumi Class IIA Prison. The success of the disclosure began with the sensitivity of security officers who suspected the movements of one of the officers with the initials A.R.

The suspicion was then followed up with close surveillance and further examination.

From the results of the examination of the inmate with the initials S.A.K.J., the officers found evidence in the form of 40 small plastic clip packages suspected of containing methamphetamine, as well as one bundle of clear plastic clips. The goods are suspected to be distributed inside the prison.

The North Lampung Police Chief, AKBP Deddy Kurniawan, stated that this success was a clear proof of the strong synergy between law enforcement agencies.

"This shows good coordination between the police, prisons, and detention centers in preventing the circulation of drugs," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kotabumi Class IIA Prison, Tomi Elyus, emphasized his commitment to keeping the prison environment clean from drugs.

"We do not give space for the circulation of drugs inside the prison," said Tomi.

Head of the Kotabumi Class IIB Detention Center, Marthen Butar Butar, also conveyed full support for the ongoing legal process. He emphasized that this step is in line with the direction of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, and the Director General of Corrections, Mashudi, in combating drugs in the correctional environment.

In the future, the North Lampung Police together with the Kotabumi Prison and Detention Center are committed to continue strengthening collaboration, increasing supervision, conducting routine searches, and optimizing early detection functions to prevent similar incidents from being repeated.
