Suspected of Corruption in the Management of Metal Anode Siman Bahar Died in China, KPK Prepared SP3

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will issue a Letter of Termination of Investigation (SP3) for suspect Siman Bahar alias Bong Kin Phin who is the President Director of PT Loco Montrado.

This decision was taken because the suspect in the corruption case of cooperation in the processing of metal anodes between PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk and PT Loco Montrado died.

"Of course, this is for the law, if the suspect dies, SP3 is certain. But we need the administration that we are checking," said Acting (Plt) Director of KPK Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein to reporters at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday, April 14.

The check, continued Taufik, will also be carried out because Siman Bahar died in China.

"We have to make sure first, because this is what we are trying to update first, why can it be to China, yes," he said.

"However, the information on deaths as of today we can confirm and we only need the administration," continued Taufik.

As previously reported, the KPK has named two people as suspects in the corruption case of cooperation in the processing of metal anodes between PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk and PT Loco Montrado. They are Siman Bahar and Dodi Martimbang (DM) as General Manager of the Processing Unit of PT Antam.

Dodi has now been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison. Meanwhile, Siman Bahar has not been detained due to his health condition.

The status of the suspect Siman Bahar was dropped after the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) granted his pretrial lawsuit. However, the KPK again named Siman Bahar as a suspect for the second time.

In the development of this case, the anti-corruption commission then named PT Loco Montrado as a corporate suspect. The private company is suspected of also benefiting from a cooperation that ultimately harms state finances worth Rp. 100 billion.
