UI Rector Monitoring Case of Alleged Harassment at the Faculty of Law

JAKARTA - The Rector of the University of Indonesia (UI) Heri Hermansyah confirmed that his party was monitoring the alleged case of sexual harassment that occurred at the Faculty of Law (FH) of the campus.

"The Faculty of Law has responded, later the rectorate will monitor how the handling is handled at the faculty," said UI Rector Heri Hermansyah at the UI Depok Campus, Monday, April 13.

In a statement on the FHUI @fakultashukumui Instagram account, the Rector explained that on April 12, 2026, the faculty received a report regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics which also potentially contained elements of criminal acts, related to the activities of some students.

Based on the report, the Faculty learned that screenshots of conversations involving students and containing inappropriate content, including indications of sexual violence, were circulating.

The Faculty strongly condemns all forms of behavior that degrade human dignity and are contrary to the values of law and academic ethics.

Currently, the Faculty is conducting a serious, careful, and thorough search and verification. This process is carried out by upholding the principles of prudence and fairness.

If violations are found, including those that potentially violate criminal law, the Faculty will take firm action in accordance with applicable provisions and coordinate with the authorities.

The Faculty emphasizes the safety and comfort of all academic staff as a top priority. A safe reporting channel and the necessary support are available for those in need.
