President Prabowo Subianto wants Pencak Silat to reach the Olympics

Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has a mission to bring pencak silat to the Olympic Games. This was conveyed by President Prabowo when he gave a speech at the 16th IPSI National Congress (Munas) at the Jakarta Convention Center, Saturday, April 11.

The young fencers are ready to support the mission. One of them was conveyed by Ramadan Pamungkas, a Tapak Suci Muhammadiyah fighter who was present at the event. He hopes that this time the National Congress will not only produce a leader who is worthy of replacing Prabowo as the General Chairman of the General Board (PB) of IPSI, but also able to strengthen the organization's foundation and accelerate the steps of pencak silat towards a big dream, namely appearing in the Olympics.

Therefore, he assessed that the National Congress must be able to produce strategic policies that not only strengthen pencak silat in the country, but also encourage its existence in the international arena.

According to him, the target of pencak silat towards the Olympics can be realized if all elements, from managers to national coaches, make thorough preparations. One step that needs to be strengthened, according to him, is an effective training system to produce superior athletes who are able to compete at the world level, while expanding the spread of pencak silat globally.

Similar hopes were also expressed by Alfius Demena, Chairman of the Papua Provincial IPSI. He hopes that this time the National Congress will be able to produce concrete policies that will accelerate the steps of pencak silat so that it can become an Olympic sport in the future.

According to him, the road to the Olympics is not easy. However, he still feels optimistic as long as all elements are willing to work collectively in various aspects, ranging from athlete training to improving the quality of match equipment. However, Alfius emphasized that IPSI Papua does not only depend on the results of this Congress.

Since the beginning of his leadership, he said that his organization has taken the initiative to nurture athletes who are able to compete at the global level. In his remarks at this IPSI Congress, President Prabowo decided not to run for the position of Chairman of the General Assembly of the Indonesian Paralympic Committee.

However, President Prabowo hopes that his successor can carry out his great mission, namely bringing pencak silat to the Olympic Games.
